Hi! I'm Neli Betancourt-Rodriguez
There is something powerful about sitting across from someone that genuinely cares about your heart, your story, and your life. I highly value the people I connect with as a therapist because I too have been the client sitting on the other side.
My hope is to convey this compassion to everyone that sits across from me.

Why I decided to become a therapist
They say you shouldn't share your personal story as a counselor, but I like to think of myself as a "rare breed" kind of therapist. I was an adolescent young girl that struggled with a life-threatening eating disorder that led me to a therapist's office. This was where a passion developed for understanding myself but also make room to help others access emotional healing too. Because of this, I knew very early on I wanted to be a compassionate therapist that sat across from hurting people.

My passion is to walk through the ruins of really hard things and help others reconstruct their story by developing their own post-traumatic growth.

How I help others
Utilizing biblical principles and person-centered theoretical approaches, I seek to understand and help people uncover the past experiences that continue to manifest themselves through behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and relational connections. I make strides to intentionally listen to be present in your here-and-now and empower you to recognize the power in your voice. I am consistently willing to go into the deep and hard areas of the human heart with patience and grace using a nonjudgmental approach for you to feel safe and secure. I know how difficult emotional healing can be but by empowering people to recognize their God-given identity and potential to heal, I help you to deconstruct your story and build it new again with meaning and purpose.

My preferred treatment modalities
I like to believe that no one form of treatment or approach is for everyone. We work together to explore what is best and create a treatment plan tailor made just for you. However, I do love to use narrative therapy techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered techniques, trauma informed counseling, and emotion focused therapy. This is not an exhaustive list but just some that I believe I'm well-versed in.
